As more and more kids apply to more and more schools, putting the best possible application together is crucial.  Since most schools started accepting the Common Application, seniors who would have applied to four or five colleges have started applying to fifteen. Every college gets tons of interesting and qualified applicants.  You need to stand out. An ordinary, half-hearted application is the kiss of death.
